How to Properly Place Advertising for Medicinal Products

On 3 December 2025, Partner Lada Maisenia and Senior Associate Yulia Shuba held a seminar for members of the Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (AIPM) on the topic “How to Properly Place Advertising for Medicinal Products: Legal Requirements, Risks, and Trends”.

The event was organised taking into account the most frequent requests received from pharmaceutical companies. Particular attention was paid to real-life cases and new trends in the regulation of advertising activities.

Senior Associate Yulia Shuba delivered an expert presentation in which she provided detailed explanations on the following issues:

• the distinction between information and advertising in the field of circulation of medicinal products;

• the legal requirements applicable to advertising of prescription and over-the-counter medicines;

• typical errors that may lead to content being classified as improper advertising;

• the liability borne by companies for violations of statutory requirements;

• specific considerations when disseminating information in the digital environment — on websites, platforms, and social media;

• risks arising from the use of images of professionals, logos, and other means of individualisation in educational videos and informational publications;

• key points to consider when engaging advertising distributors and working with bloggers.

Participants received practical recommendations on minimising legal risks, as well as answers to questions related to preparing and publishing content.

The seminar was conducted in an interactive format: attendees shared their experience and discussed contentious situations and approaches to building safe communication with consumers.
