On August 26, 2026, Senior Lawyer at Borovtsov & Salei Yulia Shuba conducted a seminar for members of the Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (AIPM), dedicated to the legal aspects of interaction between pharmaceutical companies and healthcare professionals.

The discussion focused on key anti-corruption and industry compliance issues: the permissibility of gifts and other benefits, the organization of scientific and practical events, professional hospitality, provision of informational materials, engagement of healthcare professionals as lecturers and experts, as well as payment for training.

Particular attention was paid to the status of medical and pharmaceutical professionals and the related restrictions established by anti-corruption legislation, as well as to distinguishing professional interaction from the provision of a personal benefit to a healthcare professional.

The expert emphasized that Belarusian legislation establishes a minimum level of requirements, while the internal policies of international pharmaceutical companies and the AIPM Code of Practice may set stricter standards. Therefore, when planning interactions, it is important to consider not only the formal legality of a particular action, but also its compliance with corporate and industry rules.

The practical part of the seminar addressed situations that pharmaceutical companies encounter in their day-to-day operations, including requirements concerning the venue of events, catering and transportation, informational and other materials, execution of agreements with lecturers, and other aspects of professional interaction.

The key takeaway from the seminar is that, when assessing compliance risks, not only the value of the benefit provided is important, but, above all, its purpose, recipient, context, and form of provision.

The event was held in the format of an open professional dialogue, with a discussion of practical situations and questions from the participants.
